This very simple recipe is a family secret that we have been quickly whipping together in the kitchen at our restaurant or home with any leftover mozz and sauce laying around. It's basically an Italian version of queso fundido. Best served and eaten hot fresh out of the oven on a toasted piece of bread or you can twirl and stretch with just a fork.
In a small pan - ideally cast iron - add a layer of Monte’s Sauce to cover the bottom.
Slice your mozzarella into disks and cover the sauce on the bottom of the pan.
Drizzle a bit more sauce on top, and throw in a broil on high.
When all the sauce is melted into the sauce, pull out of oven.
Dip your bread directly into the melted sauce and cheese and experience the “stretch.”
